A public commitment
Our public, unilaterally-binding promise to everyone who interacts with Genghis. Not a privacy policy. Not a terms-of-service clause. Five articles.
The Yassa takes its name from the written code that turned Genghis Khan's confederation into a civilisation. Each article below is an operational, engineering, and legal commitment. The day it went live, we accepted the risk of being judged against it forever. That is the intended cost.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data. We do not trade your data as currency with governments, advertisers, or other companies. While we hold anything on your behalf, whether an email address, an order history, or a wallet hash, we hold it in trust. It is yours, and we are the temporary custodians.
By default, Genghis is non-custodial. For purchases, your crypto passes through our system only in the seconds required to settle the transaction on-chain. For optional programmes you choose to enter, such as Tribe loyalty points, the Genghis Token economy, or future staking, the same principle applies. Participation is voluntary, terms are public and unilaterally binding on us, you retain control of what is yours, and you can exit at any time. We will never freeze, seize, or appropriate funds you have entrusted to a Genghis programme.
Where the law requires us to collect information, KYC above a regulatory threshold for example, we collect the legal minimum, we hold it for the legal minimum duration, and we use it for the legal minimum purpose. Every other piece of information is optional, declared as optional, and stored only where it measurably serves you.
When a government, a regulator, or a corporate partner asks us to compromise these promises, we push back. We lobby for higher KYC thresholds. We challenge surveillance overreach in jurisdictions where we operate. We align with civil-liberties organisations. We treat principled legal expense as a category of brand investment. If we cannot operate in a jurisdiction without compromising these articles, we will exit that jurisdiction rather than compromise.
We will publish, annually, a public report on every government or regulatory request we received, how many we complied with, how many we resisted, and the ultimate disposition. Where legal non-disclosure applies, we will use a warrant canary. Where we make errors, we will disclose them. Our Yassa is measurable, or it is marketing.
